Tenuta Luce, located in the Tuscany of Montalcino, is a terroir with an excellent wine vocation where some of the most exclusive Italian wines were born. In these typically Tuscan landscapes, where vineyards alternate with olive groves and woods, extraordinary Made in Italy labels come to life. The products are an expression of the Tuscan wine tradition and the desire to renew it. The result of an ambitious dream: to create wines that are the expression of an already exceptionally suited terroir such as that of Montalcino, giving life to wines of character and persuasive, rich in aroma and seduction, complex and deep. In Montalcino, the production of quality wines comes from a characteristic geological conformation and optimal climatic conditions: on these hills the wind keeps the air fresh and clean, the summers are long, dry, sunny. Nature shows itself in all its beauty. An enchanting village, perched on a hill 567 meters above sea level, which has managed to preserve its medieval charm intact. Lying on the gentle slopes to the south-west of the village of Montalcino, in Tuscany, the Tenuta Luce vineyards cover an area rich in biodiversity, one of the most suitable for growing vines. It is no coincidence that this is the homeland of Brunello di Montalcino, one of the most famous Italian wines. In Tenuta Luce, each parcel has different characteristics. The altitudes range from 200 to 430 meters above sea level. The land here varies greatly in terms of soils, attributable to three main areas: mixed-clayey in the lower, sandy-schistose in the upper, yellow sands and sandstones in the middle. The soil, rich in minerals and organic materials, is a living support also thanks to the microorganisms and insects that inhabit it and a vital soil is the best prerequisite for the balance of the ecosystem and the harmony of the vineyard. The first step towards the production of wines considered everywhere among the Tuscan wine excellences. Exposed to midday, the vineyards enjoy long, hot and sunny summers that bring the grapes to a slow and complete ripening.
After a careful iconographic study, the task of representing graphically Luce was identified in a golden sun with twelve flames that has a double meaning: source of life and nourishment and at the same time a reference to the roots of the Tuscan cultural tradition. In past centuries, especially in Tuscany, the symbol of the Sun has in fact occupied a prominent place in both civil and religious iconography. The representation that inspires most the brand light is the sun on the main altar of Santo Spirito in Florence, a basilica built on land donated by the Frescobaldi family. The altar, a masterpiece of the ducal manufactories built between 1599 and 1607, is decorated with an inlay that enhances the colors of lapis lazuli, onyx and different marbles.
The Tenuta Luce winery develops along the axis of a corridor which, room after room, follows the path of the wine, from the grape to the bottle. During the harvest, the ripe grapes, selected by hand in each single parcel, are transported to the collection area and the times of the wine must be respected exactly like those of nature. After making a further selection on the sorting tables, we move on to soft pressing and fermentation with indigenous yeasts. After vinification, it is time to wait for the wine to rest and evolve in its temperament in the barrel and barrel cellar.
